I just switched to AT&T phone & Internet service. My computer is now running very slowly, particularly when sending and receiving e-mail using Outlook. I found McciServiceHost in a long list of Alctel-Lucent files in IE add-ons. What is the function of this entire group of add-ons? Do I need them? Is it safe to disable or delete them?

This process is a part of AT&T software that you ay have aquired in one of two ways. If you have downloaded the AT&T version ob Internet Explorer you probably got it in the bundle. The other way to get it is to download from AT&T their program for troubleshooting your AT&T internet srvice (Either DSL or U-verse).

It will do no harm to uninstall the progam (if you need to troubleshoot your AT&T services in the future you can simply download it again - but make a note to yourself to remove it when you are done troubleshooting to avoid a recurrence of the problem).

I would uninsall the AT&T browser also, who knows what else they may have hidden away in their code and it is just a bastardization of IE so why chance the possibility of some future conflict with a Microsoft update.

When you go to remove programs in your control panel, you won't find MCCIservicehost (or anything else MCCI most likely) and the program that you need to remove to eliminate the MCCI is "AT&T Portal"
