This "CD Drive" has suddenly showed up in under "This PC ". I have no idea where it came from. I will not install it unless I become aware what it is for.

I had this message pop up and it also shows as an additional external drive under 'This Computer' - and it is related to the USB Ethernet adapter that I have plugged in. All of a sudden, it is showing as an external (small) drive that has a driver .exe file in it rather than working correctly as a USB Ethernet Adapter. I can't get it to work any longer.
