-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------By steve 2013-09-19 23:02:35 SevereWeatherAlerts is an annoying process (possible virus) that runs in the background and will send you advertisements each time you use your browser. If you use the ADD/Remove programs and unistall, it will say it was unistalled but the process is still there and it will still send you popups. You cannot delete the files from Windows Explorer because the files are locked by the process. To REMOVE you must (1) go to the Start->All Programs->SeverWeatherAlerts and right click to FIND TARGET. (2) You must get the path to where these files reside. (3) YOU MUST reboot your PC and go into Safe MOde and get a DOS Prompt. (4) Use the Change Directory cmd in DOS to get to these files and then you must ERASE them and REMOVE the Directories --- erase as much as you can. You will be able to delete most of them. Some css files will be locked -- no problem. (5) Get back into Windows go back to where the original path was and delete the rest of them. (6) Run Malwarebytes to get ride of the remaining PUP's. (7) lastly, you must go to Windows RUN prompt and run RegEdit --- there you should search for all things related to "Alerts" keys and remove them all. Keep looking for these keys until they are gon. Reboot and the Alerts should be gone.

By Cody 2013-10-05 05:28:45 I found an easier way to do this. I opened up computer, went to local C drive and searched Severe (Severeweatheralerts), and although it searched for a bit it pulled the files up. Went into the severeweatheralerts folder and found the app and stuff. By deleting the KDat file, the process stops working and a dialog asking to close it appears. Close it and you can delete the files. After this the process was gone.
