Occasionally when my windows 10 system starts to slow down, I'll look at the task manager. usually its just an overworked browser with too many tabs open. But this time I noticed that Rodem.Notifier.wpf was taking 13% of total CPU time, which is a LOT for an an 8 core machine. It probably started yesterday when my Brother ap let me know of a printer driver update, but required a password for my printer to complete. Well none of the suggested "default" passwords worked, and I never set up any password for this printer anyway. So I dismissed the update app, but obviously it did not shut down. Then I noticed it does not show up in my "add/remove programs". I was suspicious, but I see the LNK file to start it was added to my startup folder a year ago when I bought the printer. So for now I'm going to assume it just didn't shut down properly and won't worry about it for now. When I have a little spare time I'll call BROTHER and ask about the whole situation, including asking for the printer password. If it turns out to be a PUP that shouldn't be there, I'll remove it.
