While this page is the most helpful of the sites that showed up in multiple search engines, its still not helpful--yes, it\'s a Microsoft Windows operating system file. now, what does it do? whats its function? whats it point of being? No one has these things listed in any way besides that its a system file...so helpful.
I want to know the answer to the question at the top of the page--What is EOSNotify.exe? Please update this page if you can, as it\\\'s fairly useless as is.

The EOSNotify program is launched by two scheduled tasks named EOSNotify and EOSNotify2 located under Microsoft -> Windows -> Setup in Task scheduler (it is set to run at every user logon and 12PM every day).
When the latest version EOSNotify.exe is invoked, which is includes with some Windows Updates, it displays the following full-screen message:
"Your Windows 7 PC is out of support
As of January 14, 2020, support for Windows 7 has come to an end. Your PC is more vulnerable to viruses and malware due to:
* No security updates
* No software updates
* No tech support
Microsoft strongly recommends using Windows 10 on a new PC for latest security features and protection against malicious software."
Previous versions of EOSNotify.exe warned the user that Windows 7 support will end on January 14th 2020.
The user must interact with message to continue, the screen includes a link to a website which automatically downloads system software onto the target device using the Windows Update mechanism.
The presence of EOSNotify increases the chances of the computers operating system being replaced unintentionally by a novice user and could lead to significant downtime, system instability, or in some cases, complete system failure.
The message will not be displayed to users if the system administrator sets the following registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionEOSNotify]
"DiscontinueEOS"=dword:00000001
